Film actor turned producer and director Samarla Venkata Ranga Rao also known as Nata Simha or Vishwa Nata Chakravarti was born on 3 rd July, 1919 in Andhra Pradesh to parents Samarla Gotteswaran Rao and Samarla Lakshmi. He died on 18 th July, 1974 at the age of 56. He married Leelavathi and had three children. He debuted frommthe film Varoodhini in 1946. He won Rashtrapati Award for the films Annai, Karpagam, Sarada, Nartansala. He won Nandi Award for Bandhavyalu. He last appeared in the film Yashoda Krishna in 1975 as Kamsa. He produced four films.
